AND WE'RE OFF!

Welcome aboard for another exciting season of NZ Super Truck Racing with the BTR team. Yes that’s right, it’s that time again! RACE TIME! As you’d expect a lot has happened since last season. The following are the highlights:

MALCOLM'S SUPER TRUCK WORLD TRIP

In order to ensure we’ve got the latest info & to bench mark ourselves against the rest of the world, Malcolm went on a fact finding mission to check out Super Truck Racing around the world. Visiting Europe, Germany & the States, he met up with all the key people from the key teams. The outcome was a little different than we expected. Instead of picking up tips from them, he ended up helping them out more than they helped him & he came back realising that NZ Super truck racing is right at the top in the world scene.

BTR HOSPITALITY COACH

In order to both entertain sponsors & guests at the race track in comfort we’ve been working on a modified coach. This season not only will we be able to entertain in it, we’ll also of course have additional sleeping quarters for the crew (namely the Little family).

RACE TRUCK UPGRADES

It goes without saying that there’s obviously been some serious work going in here again. Last year the biggest effort went into the cab & chassis of the truck which definitely gave us the platform we needed to go forward from. With that all done, this years effort has been concentrated on engine, suspension (a complete set of race shock absorbers for 1) & gearing tweaks of which we learnt a lot about last season. Our good friends & buddies at ADS are providing a brand new race engine this year (meaning a spare ready to go if anything should go wrong) along with ‘turbo’s in parallel’ & special manifolds.

RACE DAY

In the off season the truck is of course available for guest appearances at various sponsors events etc. The latest being the ‘Performance Vehicle Show’ (See pictures) held in Wellington 2 weeks ago & put on by our friends from ‘Capital Corvettes’. Other performance vehicles including many beautiful classic cars, motorbikes, Ferraris, a Lamborghini Diablo, Dodge Vipers to name but a few, all had the privilege of displaying along side our prized race truck. Many of those attending were generally amazed to think that our 6 tonne truck would beat most of the vehicles on display there on a drag strip.

BTR Web-site: Under construction & will be up & going in time for racing.

We invite & welcome you all to come along to the first meeting of 2003/2004 season at Manfield. It’s a non points meeting primarily for testing all the new season improvements, but you can also be assured there will be plenty of action as always. All those coming please let us know so we can be sure to do what we can to look after you there.
